Branding is important to any business as it helps secure and push the brand identity and their corporate and cultural values, helping them stand-out in a busy marketplace. Branding itself can become a USP in its own right, and when implementing any digital solution - whether it's a public-facing website or in-house digital workplace - your branding should play an imperative part in the platform's look and feel.
A solution which achieves strong branding as well as a rich, aesthetically impressive look and feel can help you get off to a strong start, will entice more users to visit and more users to stay. It should be something you are proud of, and something the more senior stakeholders should love to show off. We often advise clients not to underestimate the power of branding and design within Atlas.
So, in light of this, with every version release of Atlas we are looking to improve the opportunities for our clients to reflect their brand within their Atlas environment, and to increase the areas which can be customised for a unique experience. We cover this in our 'Applying Your Brand to Atlas' theming and branding workshop as well as its related slidedeck, however, this article will also touch on a few areas which can be configured centrally within Atlas to improve the branding and your look and feel.
Before we begin...
- The SharePoint 'Theme' within Atlas will need to be set so all of your workspaces have the desired theme colour - please see our article on Managing Atlas Themes
- The main menu is a key area where you can push your colour pallet and desired logo to work inline with or in contract to your main Theme - please see our article on main menu branding.
- Tenant Properties - information on the Tenant Properties area, permissions, prerequisites and a breakdown of individual settings can be found here
- Microsoft Fluent UI Icon Library

Branding Options in Atlas Tenant Properties
- Atlas.Launchpad.Settings
- You can change the launchpad icon (currently a rocketship) to an icon from within the Microsoft Fluent UI Icon Library, and the label (currently 'Launchpad') to a word of your choice, such as 'tools', 'apps', 'Links', etc
- Atlas.QuickAccess.MyAtlas
- You can change the 'My Atlas' icon (currently a circled 'A') to an icon from within the Microsoft Fluent UI Icon Library, and the label which opens on the flyout window once clicked (currently 'My Atlas' to wording of your choice, such as 'My intranet' or 'My Preferences'
- Atlas.Header.HighlightedItems
- You can alter which main menu tools are highlighted in your main Atlas Theme colour from here, or you can switch off the highlighted colour. Note - this covers Launchpad, Feedback, My Atlas, Add It, AtlasAI and Search. Normal main menu options are not included
- Atlas.Header.Navigation.FontColor
- Here you can alter the font colour which appears in the main navigation by selecting a HEX number. Out of the box the menu will appear with white text, unless the main navigation banner is switched off, and in that case will default to white.
- Atlas.Header.ShowBannerImage
- If you wanted your main menu area to be white, you can switch off the banner image and then alter the font colour above for a unique main menu experience.
- Atlas.Alerts.Styles
- From here you can alter the Alert branding and style, including the alert background colour, text colour, bell icon colour and even the icons for all three severity levels, using HEX codes for colours and the Microsoft Fluent UI Icon Library for icons.
- Further info here in this dedicated article
- Atlas.Theme.Accent
- From 5.0 there will be an additional theming colour you can leverage from outside your Atlas Theme to inject additional colour and pizzazz into your In Focus designs.

We do always advise to be very careful when altering tenant properties, and usually recommend you undertake this on a call with your ClearPeople or Atlas representatives so that we may guide you through it and answer any additional questions you might have.
