In Atlas 5.2 we have introduced a new Tenant Property called Atlas.Analytics.Script that allows you to add third-party analytics providers into Atlas. If you are unsure how to access the Tenant Properties please review this article: Manage Tenant Properties for Atlas
Note that this is not required for Pendo Analytics which is available out of the box with Atlas.
This method is tested with Google Analytics, Matomo and Microsoft Clarity.
Add scripts to the Tenant Property
To get started, access the Tenant Properties page with the required permissions. In the search box type "analytics" to find the Atlas.Analytics.Script property. Select it using the checkbox on the left, then click Edit at the top of the list:
This will open a panel on the right side where you can paste your analytics script(s):
You'll need to get the specific script code from the analytics provider, then paste it into the Value box of the panel. If you want to add multiple 3rd party providers you simply need to enclose each one in a separate <script> block.
You can also use a comment before each one to easily identify it later, e.g. <!-- Matomo -->
Once you have added the script(s) required, click Save at the bottom of the panel.
Analytics Scripts and Caching
Atlas has a default cache timer of 7 days and this includes the scripts from this property. What this means is that you will need to wait a minimum of 7 days after making this change before starting to use and interpret the data. This is because the script will only be active for each individual user once their cache has refreshed.
If you want to start seeing some data immediately you can clear and refresh your cache manually (see here) which will mean you have the scripts cached and your data will be logged.
You may be able to force clearing of all user caches from your IT side using a logon script or similar, but we do not provide advice on this as we don't know your specific environment setup.
Atlas-specific data logged
As well as the standard data set from your analytics provider, Atlas will also log the following:
- Opening specific panels:
- Feedback
- Search
- Atlas AI
- My Atlas
- Specific web part clicks (multiple)
- Add It clicks
- People Directory clicks
- Header logo (top left) clicks
This list is not exhaustive but you can see everything in your analytics provider dashboards.
See the data
After 7 days all user caches should be cleared and you can start to get real useful data including all active users. To retrieve this data you can simply go to your dashboard for the 3rd party provider and use their tools as normal.
Disclaimer
In case you have any issues with your analytics integration we will check if the tool is correctly enabled in the tenant properties but ClearPeople will NOT provide any support on issues with any third-party integration.
