The Add It feature now includes drag-and-drop functionality, simplifying the document upload process. Users can quickly upload multiple files by dragging them into the designated zone. Additionally, pre-configured types allow for a streamlined upload flow, reducing confusion and enhancing efficiency.
Drag and Drop documents into Add It
When you use Add It to upload documents you will have the new option to drag and drop files directly from your desktop, or compatible applications such as Windows Explorer. If you do not wish to drag and drop you can still use the buttons below to choose and upload files as normal.
To use this simply go through the Add It process, choosing Documents, until you see the above UI. You can now drag documents directly from your computer onto the blue area on the page to upload them.
After uploading you will still be asked to confirm the metadata as usual, including the Title for each document:
Pre-configured Types
When using the "pre-configured types" mode for this web part under the This workspace option, we have made some enhancements to streamline the experience for users.
Firstly, the drag and drop experience for Documents described in the previous section will be included when uploading documents.
Secondly, the types are simplified when using this mode. With Dynamic types "News Page" was under "Site Pages" for example, as there is a level for the List or Library, then a second level for the content type within the list or library. In the updated Pre-configured types, the second level content types are brought up to the first level. So instead of choosing Site Pages, then News Page, you can now choose News Page directly. This can help alleviate confusion from users around which List or Library they might find a particular content type in.
Therefore the default choices for pre-configured types are as follows:
