The investigation is still in progress. Whilst we wait for this issue to be resolved, we've published an accompanying article that describes a workaround to disable Target-based scaling for Atlas, which will reduce the costs whilst we wait for a resolution
N.B. If you are affected by this issue It is essential that you raise a ticket with Microsoft. This will be a necessity to ensure the issue is resolved in your tenant, and to initiate any refund process

We have become aware of an unusual and unexpected increase in Azure Infrastructure costs from November 2024, affecting All Atlas versions from 5.2 (earlier (unsupported) versions may also be affected)
For the Atlas User Community it is important to understand that the root cause of this observation is a bug currently being investigated by Microsoft.
We ask all our clients to review Azure costs over the last 3-6 months to confirm if you are seeing an increase from November. If you are, we urge you to raise a Support Ticket directly with Microsoft.
We understand that:
- At the time of publishing this article, this is NOT a well publicised bug
- Microsoft are still investigating the bug and are yet to provide a fix.
- In the mean time, where Microsoft have received a support ticket from an affected Tenant, they have been able to provide a patch on a case per case basis.
- If a Microsoft patch is required for your Tenant, you will be entitled to apply for a refund from Microsoft. We don't have guidance on this process and expect that is provided to you by Microsoft at that time

ClearPeople has raised its own ticket with Microsoft, and as that progresses and we learn more, we will share our experience here in this article.
