In this article we go through a typical interaction with the Atlas AI Assistant using a Knowledge Collection. This assumes that your AI Administrators have configured at least one collection for you to use and that you have permissions to use it. Remember, to use our AI Assistant or to access a KC, you will need both permissions to the tool and also access to the KC.
Please remember that AI responses should be reviewed before being assumed to be correct!
- To access the AI, click the following button in the top right of the Atlas header:
- This will open a panel on the right of your screen:
- If this is your first interaction with the AI you will only see the above, and then a chat box at the bottom. If you have spoken to the AI before you will see your previous conversation - bear in mind that if you need to start a new conversation you need to click New chat to avoid using context from the previous chats in the new responses.
- Above the chat box, you can see the Knowledge Collection you will be using. Click on it to see all the collections available to your user:
- Type your question into the main box. Be aware that you need to understand the domain of knowledge that your chosen collection covers and that your question falls under that domain. So for example I can ask how to do something in Atlas using the Atlas Documentation collection:
- One of the key advantages of Atlas AI is that you can choose tags or specific documents you want to include to focus the response. When you add tags they are shown with the symbol # and the AND logic is used, so all tags must match the content in the Knowledge Collection for it to be included. You can specify documents which will be written with the symbol / and the OR logic is used so only one of the documents needs to have the information for it to returned:
- Once you click send, the AI almost immediately starts to generate a response, and you can watch it being generated in real time. Once submitted, your query gets moved up to the top of the panel and under it you'll see the response, followed by the References used by the AI to generate the response:
- If you're happy with the response you can click the "thumbs up" button, if not you can click "thumbs down" and provide details. Click the clipboard icon "copy" to copy the content and references as text.
- Bear in mind that the AI will decline to answer questions that don't fall within the knowledge collection, and it does not act like a general AI (like ChatGPT). For example, if I ask the AI to write me a poem about Atlas, it will simply say it does not have information about that topic:
Provide feedback for AI Assistant responses
There is the capability to provide feedback to the responses provided by the AI Assistant. After getting a response from the AI, users can choose an option (thumbs up or down) and leave a free-text comment.
For negative ratings you have the option to select from multiple choices featuring the most common reasons a response would be voted down:
Reporting on feedback
IKS Administrators have the capability to export this feedback into a CSV file for data analysis and to create custom reports based on this information. Please see this article for IKS Auditing.
