This article helps you fill in metadata forms in Add It and Quick Add It as effectively as possible.
Please note that any instructions for a particular field such as character limits will be shown under that field in the form. The red asterisk (*) indicates a required field, which means you cannot submit your content until that field is populated.
In this article:
Text fields such as Title or Description can be filled in simply by clicking in the field and typing the desired text:
Managed Metadata fields
Managed Metadata fields can be recognised by the “tags” icon on the far right of the field. The current default or selected tags are shown below the box - such as Sales in the example below:
You can click the tags icon on the right to see the full list of possible tags for this field. Depending on the field you may be able to select multiple tags using the checkboxes:
Note: Only users who have access to manage the Term Store will see the "Add a new term" link.
Once you are more familiar with the available tags in your system you can simply start typing into the field to get suggestions from the available tags - just click a suggestion to add that tag:
The tags you have added will appear below the field, and you can remove them by clicking the X on the right of each tag:
Date fields are shown in Add It for items like News and Events among others. Click in the field to load a calendar panel which allows you to pick the date:
