With Atlas version 4.2 or higher the options available for the Add It web part have changed. Please see here: Configuration options for Add It (Atlas 4.2+) - if you are considering custom configuration and you do not yet have Atlas 4.2 or higher we strongly recommend upgrading to make use of the hugely simplified customisation.
Customising Add It configuration
In Atlas 3.X the default configuration for Add It is to use information directly from ConneX, but this can be changed to use a custom JSON file, or a combination of the two. This can be configured by editing the Add It web part on a page and changing the Data source:
We recommend that you stick with the ConneX configuration for Add It unless you have custom content types you need to support.
In Atlas 1.X and 2.X the configuration can be controlled only by the JSON file.
- In Atlas 2.X and 3.X the configuration files are located in the Atlas Configuration workspace. Click Atlas Assets on the left of the workspace, then open the Add It folder.
- In Atlas 1.X this is located in the Style Library in SharePoint, in your "root" Atlas workspace. The Style Library can be accessed by going to Site contents from the top right menu and clicking on “Style Library” from the list, then going into Atlas > JSON.
The JSON file defines the types of content available and where they should be created.
Changes to the Add It configuration should not be attempted unless you are familiar with editing JSON or other structured files like XML, or have coding experience. We recommend downloading the configuration file, making changes offline, then uploading the new version and testing that the file is still valid. If you make changes that invalidate the file, Add It will stop working and you should roll back the version of the JSON file to revert.
If you are unsure what changes you should make or are having trouble achieving a particular configuration please get in touch with our support team or with your CSM.
