Managing Launchpad items

The Launchpad is an important Navigation element for Atlas and is intended for providing links to tools or systems, usually hosted outside of Atlas or Microsoft 365. It is found to the left of the Global Navigation on all pages and users can simply click items to navigate to them.

In Atlas 4.2 onwards, a search box has been made available inside the Launchpad:

Icons for the Launchpad

Icons for the Launchpad should be 40 x 40 pixels and ideally have a transparent background. If they don't have a transparent background you will see a coloured square around them which will not look as good.

Access the Launchpad Links list

1. Navigate to the Atlas Configuration workspace. This workspace can be found by searching for "configuration" in Atlas ConneX, or by manually navigating to the site at /sites/atlasconfiguration in your M365 tenant.
2. Go to Site contents in the top right menu:
   
3. Scroll down to the "Launchpad" or "Launchpad Links" list and click on the title to open it:
   
   
   

Add or Edit Launchpad links

1. To make changes to an existing item, right click it or click on the 3 dots and choose Edit:
   
2. To add a new item, click + New:
    
3. You must add a Title, URL and Image and also check the Show checkbox to ensure the item appears in the Launchpad:
   
   
   • We recommend uploading images for the Launchpad to the Atlas Assets library in the Atlas Configuration workspace - you can create a specific folder in the library if you wish. This will ensure that all users have Read access so the images appear as expected.
     
     
4. You can also set the Order relative to the other items, and whether the link will Open in a new tab:
   
5. If you only want to show the item when accessing from specific Operating Systems, ensure you set these by making the appropriate choices in the dropdown.
6. If you only want to show the item to specific users and groups, ensure you add those users and groups in the Content Targeting field. If possible, you should always use Groups rather than users to make things easier to manage.
7. Once you have set all the appropriate tags click Save to create or update the item or Cancel to back out.
   
   

Delete Launchpad links
