A Knowledge Page is the standard page type in Atlas, and can be created using Add It. This is not the same as a Knowledge Workspace, which can be created from ConneX. A Knowledge Workspace may include many Knowledge Pages, as well as other content such as documents.
To start creating a Knowledge Page, click the Add It button in the top right of the page:
Once the wizard loads, confirm or choose the workspace you want to add it to. By default, Add It will choose the workspace you were in when you clicked the Add It button.
Add a Knowledge page
- To add a Knowledge Page, choose Site Pages then Knowledge Page:
- A preview of the page type you've chosen will appear below your selections:
- Click Next then check and edit the required metadata and fill in the global tags. If you do not need to show content from a specific Location or Department for example in In Focus web parts you can just leave the default. You should remove the generic tag and pick the ones which match your content:
- Next, you can check the Optional metadata:
- Enter the Authors if required by your organisation. This can be useful so that viewers know who to contact to learn more about this subject.
- You can fill in the Reference, Reference Date and Status fields. These are not required by Atlas but your organisation may require you to fill these in with specific information.
- Finally, you can set any Security settings you need:
Once you have filled in the form, click Submit to create your page. You will be redirected to your page, in Edit mode, ready for you to start adding content.
Add content to your page
The Knowledge Page layout is slightly different from the standard page layout and comes with some default web parts:
- At the top of the page there is a banner area which allows you to choose a banner image and set the Contact for the page:
- Below the banner on the right you will see the Useful Links and Page Properties web parts. You can remove these web parts if you wish.
- Below the banner on the left there are a few default web parts
- First an image web part - if you don't want to use this you can just remove it.
- Second is where you can add the content for your News article. Click where you see the prompt Add your text here to start typing, or click and paste in your pre-written content.
- Below the text area is the Related Knowledge web part presenting Documents and Knowledge related to the current page.
- At the bottom of the page, by default the Comments function is turned off for Knowledge Pages. If you wish, you can turn this on for this article by changing the toggle to On:
When you are done, click Publish in the top right to make the page available to all users:
If you just want to save your changes for another Editor to review, click Save as Draft in the top left:
