Events are created using Add It. First, click the Add It button in the top right of the page:
Once the wizard loads, confirm or choose the workspace you want to add it to. By default, Add It will choose the workspace you were in when you clicked the Add It button.
Create an Event via Add It
- To add an Event, choose Events:
- Next you'll be presented with the Metadata form:
- First, enter the Title of the event and the Location of the event to be shown in Atlas, then select an Event Type tag. Set the Start and End Times for your Event.
- When entering the times please be aware that Events only support full and half-hour times and will round down to a whole or half-hour, so 12:55 for example will be rounded down to 12:30. This is a limitation of the Microsoft 365 Events feature at this time.
- Next, fill in the global tags (right hand side) - if you want to push your event to specific pages or workspaces you should remove the generic tag and choose the tags matching those pages or workspaces, e.g. tag your Marketing Department if you want the event to appear on pages with the "Marketing" Department tag. If you don't need to push to specific pages or workspaces you can just leave the default values.
- If you wish you can open the Optional metadata section and modify the following:
- Finally you can open the Security section and set the following:
- Once you have filled in the form, click Submit to create your event. You will be redirected to the event item page.
Populating the Event page
The Event has a page layout but it is restricted compared to the standard page layout in that it only has the Banner Image, Event details and a Contact field, and you cannot add or remove web parts.
- At the top of the page there is a banner area which allows you to choose a banner image:
- If you do not want a banner image, click the Edit button to the top left of the banner and change the Layout to Plain
- Below the banner you will see the event details you filled in in Add It, and can edit this if needed
- Below the event details is a formatted text area About this event where you can add a full description of the event
- Finally at the bottom of the page there is a Contact field where you can type a username to mark them as the event contact.
When you are done, click Save in the top right to make the event visible to all users:

Can you attach files to an event?
Hi Linda, thanks for your question! Unfortunately there is not really a good way to directly attach files to events - it is technically possible but the attachment will not be surfaced on the Event Page itself so users viewing the event won't see it.
What we'd recommend is uploading the attachment as a Document to a public workspace then simply linking to the document in the Text area of the Event Page.
