Please find below a table of the SharePoint Search "Result Sources" related to Atlas that are used for In Focus web part configuration and filtering. You can select a Result Source by name in your In Focus web parts to refer to a particular Result Source using a particular Scope. For example: SPSiteSubscription|External Insights (Atlas)
You can find out more about configuring In Focus web parts here: Configuration for In Focus web parts (Atlas 5.0+)
In Atlas 6.0 and earlier, these are managed from the SharePoint Admin Center, but from Atlas 6.1 we have moved this to the Atlas Configuration workspace. Learn more below: Manage Result Sources (Atlas 6.1+)
In this article:
In this article we have split the Result Sources into two different types - those which automatically filter based on the metadata values in the common Atlas fields applied to the page and those which do not.

Manage Result Sources (Atlas 6.1+)
From Atlas 6.1 you can manage Atlas Result Sources from the Atlas Configuration workspace, so you don't need to be a SharePoint Admin to set these up. To see how, please read this article: Manage Result Sources from Atlas Configuration (Atlas 6.1+)
In versions prior to 6.1, you'll need to ask your SharePoint Admin to create Result Sources through the Admin centre.
Result Sources matching against the page metadata
All Atlas content shares the following common metadata, so these fields will be used to determine or filter which content can be returned on the current page:
Activity, Department, Entity, Location and Subject.
Content type-specific metadata will not be considered for filtering. These fields are:
Information Type, News Type, External Insights Type and Event Type.
How does the filtering work?
It is important to understand exactly how the filtering will work when using these Result Sources. Let's say a page is tagged with two Departments; "IT Services" and "Finance", and one Location; "UK":
In this scenario, these result sources will only return content which has the Location "UK" and either the Department "Finance" or "IT" - the content must match at least one value (or a child term of that value) in every field but does not need to match every value in every field.
If all five Atlas fields for your page have exactly one specific value, content will only be returned if it matches all five values or children of those values, so it is generally recommended not to use more than 3 specific tags for the page as that may restrict the content that can be returned, but it also gives you the flexibility to be very specific about exactly what you are showing on a given page.
Result Sources available
The Result Sources below will cause your In Focus web part to return only Atlas content which matches the common metadata values of the page the web part has been added to. You can still apply filters on top of this in the web part configuration or by using an In Focus Filters web part.
We recommend using the SPSiteSubscription scope for these Result Sources. So the full name for a result source would be e.g. SPSiteSubscription|Atlas: Documents.

The Result Sources below will allow your In Focus web part to return any content of a particular type without any metadata-based filtering applied. You can still apply specific filters on top of this in the web part configuration or by using an In Focus Filters web part.
