In Atlas you have the ability to export and import the settings from any In Focus web part (and some other Atlas web parts) to allow potentially complex configurations to be reused across Atlas without having to manually re-apply the settings in every page where that configuration is required.

Note: Connected Web Parts
Please be aware before starting that any web part Connections are not able to maintained through the Import / Export process because each web part added to a page is given a unique ID on that page which is used for the connection. For example an In Focus Results web part connected to Verticals or Filters will need to be reconnected to those web parts after the configuration is imported to a new page.
Supported Web Parts
The following web parts support Import and Export of the configuration:
- In Focus (and all variants)
- In Focus Filters (and all variants)
- In Focus Verticals (and all variants)
- HoverPoint (Atlas)
- Quick Poll (Atlas)
- Add It (Atlas)
- Page Authors (Atlas)
- Mandatory Reads (Atlas)
- Call to Action (Atlas) - available from Atlas 5.3 onwards
Export settings
Settings can be stored either Globally or in This Workspace. To export the settings from an In Focus web part to the Global storage you will need at least Member permissions on the Atlas Configuration workspace. To export to This Workspace you will need at least Member permissions in the current workspace.
- Edit the page containing the In Focus web part whose settings you want to export
- Edit the web part and in the editing panel scroll to the bottom
- Click on the section names to collapse the first two sections (or just scroll all the way to the bottom of the panel) and you'll see the Export/Import settings section:
- To export the settings from this specific web part, choose the storage location at the top, then type the filename you'd like to use for these settings and click Save settings. Please consider the name you use so that other editors know what to expect if they import your settings.
Import settings
To import settings you'll need to create a page with a compatible web part on it.
- Edit the web part and in the editing panel on the right scroll down to the bottom.
- Click on the section names to collapse the first two sections (or just scroll all the way to the bottom of the panel) and you'll see the Export/Import settings section
- Choose whether you need to import from the Global or This Workspace storage
- At the bottom of the panel, click Import settings. Another panel will appear which shows the configuration files available:
- If you do not see any files listed then there are no settings saved in the selected storage. Choose the file containing the settings you need to import, then click Apply in the bottom right:
- You'll now have a web part with the settings applied from the chosen file. If you need to make tweaks to the configuration you can do this as you would from scratch.
While there are other web parts that can do this it is mostly useful for In Focus web parts. Please read more about configuring In Focus web parts here:
- Atlas 4.0 - 4.3: Configuration for In Focus web parts (Atlas 4.0 - 4.3)
- Atlas 5.0 and later: Configuration for In Focus web parts (Atlas 5.0+)
Manage stored settings
To manage the stored Global settings files you will need at least Member permissions on the Atlas Configuration workspace. To manage settings files for This Workspace you will need at least Member permissions to the local workspace where the settings you want to manage are stored.
Global stored settings
Global stored settings can be found in the Atlas Configuration workspace.
- Navigate to the Atlas Configuration workspace and open Site contents:
- Open the Atlas Configuration Files document library:
- Open the In Focus folder:
- Now you can manage the stored settings as with any other SharePoint document library. Simply right click on an item for options to edit or delete it.
"This Workspace" stored settings
Local stored settings for each workspace can be found by following these steps:
- Navigate to the workspace for which you want to manage the stored settings. The library you need to access is hidden from the interface, so from the workspace homepage you should add "/AtlasAssets" to the end of the URL. So if for example your workspace is at /sites/Finance you should modify that to /sites/Finance/AtlasAssets then press Enter to access the library:
Please note that if no configuration files have been created in the current workspace you will not see any files here. - Assuming that some files have been created you'll see the Atlas Configuration Files folder:
- Open it, then open the In Focus folder:
- Now you can manage the stored settings as with any other SharePoint document library. Simply right click on an item for options to edit or delete it.
- As these files are workspace-specific you may want to copy them to other workspaces to allow further reuse of the same configuration. You can do this using the Copy To function from the right click menu.
