Visual Tiles Layout
In Focus web parts have a number of layouts available to display content within the web part in different formats. These can be found in the third panel of the configuration settings when editing an In Focus web part. The default results layout is Carousel, where results will be displayed as tiles in a single line, with the tiles scrolling through if there are more results than can be displayed in the space available. To switch to the Visual Tiles layout choose it by editing the web part and choosing it in the 3rd page of options:
The Visual Tiles layout is designed to be similar to the default Carousel layout while giving more space to the image. This is a very engaging way to visualise content within your Atlas page and can be more suitable for content with visually engaging imagery attached.
Here you can see how the layout will look for various types of content:
In the above example we are not showing the "type labels" but the results include News, External Insights, Landing Pages and Documents so you can get an idea how these might look for your content. Please note that several of the options below will increase the height of the cards.
Configuration Options
There are a number of options for configuring the component and the display of the image and text. The default configuration is shown below, which hides some information to keep the tiles compact:
- Show/hide the type label (shown below the image in the card, increasing the height)
- Show/hide the titles so only the images are displayed
- Show/hide the date (shown at the bottom of the card, increasing the height)
- Show/hide the context menu (ellipsis overlay in the bottom right of the card)
- Show/hide the border around the card.
Supported Content
The Visual Tiles layout for In Focus supports the following Atlas content types: All Page types (Landing, Knowledge, Location, News), Documents, External Insights, Events, Spotlights.
It does not support FAQs or People.
Image Aspect Ratio Sizes
Please note: Images are dynamically rescaled by SharePoint depending on the users browser window size. Larger displays will usually produce a taller image.
Visual Tiles images: the aspect ratio is approximately 7:3.
