Atlas 4.0 enhances the way people can consume knowledge and collaboration in a digital workspace.
Atlas 4.0 is our biggest release of the year. We have created a more secure, resilient version which includes new enhancements to existing features as well as major security and infrastructure updates in-line with Microsoft technologies. This includes an update to .Net 6, as .Net 3.1 which will no longer be supported from Microsoft from December onwards. Technical Highlights for 4.0 can be found here where more detail and insights can be found.
We are also introducing a new self-deployment process which will make your deployments more manageable. You can read more about this here, on our Atlas 4.0 - Upgrade Process article.

Atlas 4.0 enhances key features to improve the user experience
Both Add It and Quick Add It now support adding files from other workspaces such us OneDrive and SharePoint in addition to uploading files from your local device. This enables everyone to contribute knowledge or kick of work from online templates without having to download and then upload the documents by copying and tagging them with Add It, all in one go. In addition, Quick Add It is also receiving support for multiple files at a time, enabling the user to add multiple files with common taxonomy in one go.
A highly requested feature is finally landing in Atlas, my preferences now will support all five taxonomy fields that are core to Atlas (Location, Department, Entity, Activity and Subject) allowing for a much more personalised experience while integrating with the new In Focus setting for applying preferences to the results. This two features combined will now make possible to create experiences like a Employee personalised dashboard with just a few clicks.
HoverPoint is also receiving a major update with a new free-style drawing mode that will enable users to create custom shapes around any figures in the images as well as the option to create link maps with a new type of interaction.
Another long awaited feature is landing in ConneX, now you will be able to create Teams Channels directly from each workspace card including Private channels with default taxonomy sets that will apply to the channel documents. This not only extends the reach of ConneX provisioning capabilities but also the information that will be automatically covered by Atlas search including now private channels content by default.
Last but not least, In Focus and ConneX Studio are receiving several updates that include new capabilities limiting the scope of results for In Focus to the current workspace as well as support for new settings and policies to be saved as part of ConneX Studio workspace templates.
Add It: Adding files from SharePoint and OneDrive
Documents can be directly added from online sources like OneDrive and SharePoint (Atlas Workspaces).
In addition to this, Quick Add It can be used for adding multiple files at once. All of them will be tagged with the same taxonomy providing you with the option to apply different titles to each one.
My Preferences
My preferences now supports all five taxonomy fields that are core to Atlas (Location, Department, Entity, Activity and Subject) allowing for a much more personalised experience while integrating with the new In Focus setting for applying preferences to the results.
HoverPoint
HoverPoint has a free style option, meaning the user can draw their own hoverpoints and outlines, with as many angles and axis as they need. It can be used to create various types of interactive knowledge as custom shapes can be create around any figure in the image. There is also a new interaction which lets you create their own hover 'maps'. Users can also change from a hover to a click, opening up possibilities for how users interact with the image.
Creating Teams Channels from ConneX
Standard and private Atlas enabled channels can be created directly from each Teams based workspace card in ConneX. This includes default values for taxonomy on the document library/folder of the channel as well as Atlas content types. By using this method, Atlas is able to find content inside channels.
Personalisation for In Focus
In Focus result web parts now support applying user preferences to the search query applied. This enables users to create a personalised news experience, follow content that is relevant for a location or topics. To use this feature, enable the toggle to apply.
In Focus Everywhere (Preview)
In Focus Everywhere is the new suite of web parts that work together to bring the next generation of search experiences to your Digital Workspace. In Focus Everywhere lets you extract information from different content sources including external systems using a similar experience to the previous In Focus components.
With support for Microsoft Graph search* and BA Insight’s Smart Hub** you can create data browsing experiences that suite your business needs without leaving your Digital Workspace.
* Additional index capacity costs may be required
** Additional licensing costs required
