Despite the fact that Microsoft have made a modern view for calendars available it does not seem to be set as the default view or made easily accessible for Calendar lists at the time of writing.
You can follow these steps to start using the modern view in a specific calendar, for example for the Events list which holds your Atlas Events.
- Go to the workspace where your calendar list is located and go to Site contents
- Click the ellipsis (...) next to your calendar list and click Settings
- Click on Advanced Settings
- At the bottom of the Settings page change the List experience to “New experience” and click OK:
- Go back to the legacy calendar view and change the URL in your browser from calendar.aspx to AllItems.aspx (/Lists/Events/AllItems.aspx) to land into a modern view.
- From the modern view recently created (any other Atlas list that is not Events) you can create a calendar view by clicking on Create new view:
- Select Calendar and choose the date fields that will control the calendar view. If this is an Atlas Events list you should use the fields as shown below:
- When you're done, click Create. You'll now see the list using the view you just created.
- Finally, you may want to set this new view as the default view for the list. To do this, click on the view selection in the top right and click Set current view as default:
