Atlas offers some customisable elements that each user can control for their own experience. These elements can be accessed via the Atlas button next to Add It:
The My Preferences feature in Atlas allows users to control the content they see across the system based on tags they can choose from the 5 global metadata fields provided by Atlas - Activity, Department, Entity, Location and Subject.
In Atlas 4.0 any In Focus web part can be configured to filter by the current user's preferences simply by turning on the following setting in the web part under the Search tab:
Set your Preferences
To set your preferences, open the Atlas menu and click My Preferences:
A panel will open on the right-hand side of the page which allows you to pick the specific tags you are interested in across the 5 global metadata fields. When you first open the panel you may see default tags set by your organisation, or no tags at all.
If you do not have any tags selected in this menu, components which apply user preferences will show all articles that you have permissions to see as there are no tags for them to filter on.
You can pick a maximum of 20 tags across the 5 fields, either by clicking the icons on the right of the fields to see all available options and picking the ones you want, or by typing into the box to get suggestions from the existing tags:
Users can pick the tags matching the content they are interested in seeing, and the chosen tags will apply filtering across all In Focus web parts with preferences matching turned on.
When you are done editing your preferences make sure you click Save at the bottom of the panel.
Web Parts using Preferences
In Atlas versions prior to Atlas 4.0 we provide a "My News" web part which allows users to see all News articles matching the tags in their Preferences. Preferences only apply to the My News web part in earlier versions of Atlas.
In Atlas 4.0 we have enhanced both the Preferences and the In Focus configuration so that any In Focus web part can be modified to filter by the current user's preferences simply by turning on the following setting in the web part under the Search tab:
