Use ConneX to add new Channels to Teams-based workspaces (Atlas 4.0+)

In Atlas 4.0 we have updated ConneX cards with the ability to add new Teams Channels. This is only available on cards for Teams-based workspaces and is the recommended way to add new channels because you are able to set default values for Atlas metadata specifically for this channel, which could be different default values than other channels in the same workspace.

To get started, go to ConneX and find your workspace using the filters or the search box. On the card for your workspace, click the vellipsis (...) in the top right, then click Add channel.

A panel will appear on the right where you can define the channel you want to create. First you need to set the Channel name and choose the Privacy setting (standard or private). You can also set a Description if you wish:

The Privacy setting is the same as the same setting when creating a channel via Teams as you may have done in the past - either it is visible to everyone in the existing Team, or it is hidden and users need to be added directly.

Next, set the default metadata values for the channel. The values you see selected before making changes are the default values for the workspace, so you may wish to keep them the same. If you do wish to change them you can simply remove any values you don't want and add the values you do. The values you select here will become the default metadata for the folder created for this channel behind the scenes inside of the workspace library.

To remove a value, click the X to the right of it. To add new values, either start typing into the box to get suggestions, or click the tag icon to the right of the box to see the full list:

Once you're happy with the channel setup, click Add channel at the bottom of the form to submit it for provisioning. Or you can cancel at any time by clicking Cancel:

Attention:

When you create a channel it's almost immediately created and you could access it directly via the ConneX card but, it might take a few minutes before the metadata you selected is set. 

As long as you see the little icon behind the channel you created the setup is still ongoing.

Wait until that icon is gone to upload any files and have your metadata automatically applied.
