When you create a new document library, by default this will just use the default SharePoint content types, and therefore documents added to it will not appear in Atlas searches and components.
In this guide we will show you how to create additional Atlas-compatible libraries whose contents will appear in search and components.
Please note that if you have made changes to the default library these changes will NOT be included in the template. If you have any concerns please get in touch with our support team.
- First, go to Site contents in an Atlas workspace by clicking on the settings menu (cogwheel icon) in the top right of the screen, then Site contents
- At the top left of the screen click New then Document library:
- A new screen will appear - choose Blank library:
- You'll now see a panel where you can name your new library - you need to ensure it is a different name than "Documents":
- Choose any other settings you need, then click Create.
- Refresh the Site contents page and your new library will appear. Now go to the Library Settings for the newly created library:
- On this page, click on Advanced settings near the top left of the screen:
- In the Advanced settings the first setting, Allow management of content types should be turned on, then scroll to the bottom of the screen and click OK:
- Back in the Library settings, look at the Content types table. Below the table, click Add from existing site content types:
- Add the File Item content type from the Atlas Content Types, and also consider whether you need to add Email. Click OK to save.
- Back in the Library settings, click on Document in the content types table. On this page click Delete this content type. This does not actually delete it from the system - just from this specific library:
And we're done! You can now start adding content to your new library, or making any other changes you might require such as modifying the permissions.
