A new feature has been added to HoverPoint that enables you to configure a modal window popout similar to the one used for Mandatory Reads, that opens on top of the current page without losing the context of that first page.
This enables Content Editors to design experiences that deliver a lot of content to the user without them leaving the page/site that they are in.
The modal window configuration can be used with internal (within your tenant) or external content sources, but please note that external websites may not allow embedding, and/or may need to be authorised by a SharePoint Admin in the HTML Field Security site setting.
To use a modal window for a HoverPoint, first you need to configure the HoverPoint to appear on click, then you can choose to Open in a new tab or Open in a modal window:
Note: You cannot use modal windows with the "on hover" configuration.
To define what will be shown in the modal window, paste the URL into the URL field. You can link to a page, PDF, video* or Office document.
* Note: You can usually use an embedded video by providing the URL part of the embed code, but please note that some video providers do not allow embedding on other websites, or may require the embed to be handled in a specific way for it to work.
