In Atlas 4.2 two new configuration options were added to the Add It web part to help target the content you want users to add from a particular Atlas page.
Usually there is no reason to reconfigure the Add It web part as it will adapt to the permissions of the user and the workspaces in your environment. However, there are a number of options that may be useful in some scenarios.
Note: Any configuration changes will only apply to this specific instance of the Add It web part.
New settings
Edit the Add It web part on your page, then edit the web part itself. There are two sections:
- Workspace - choose which workspace(s) are available to add content from Add It on this page:
- Export/Import settings - currently will only export/import the Workspace setting but as other settings become available this will become more important. To see how to use this section please refer to the article here: Export and Import Settings for Atlas web parts
Specific Workspaces
If you choose the "specific workspaces" configuration, you can choose up to 24 workspaces to be available to add content to. Just click into the field and start typing full words from the workspace name:
Click each workspace you want to make available. After adding a workspace you can search for another:
Please note that you need to type full words to get results here - for example "finan" will not return results for "finance". After adding all the workspaces you need, you can simply save or publish the page.
This Workspace
"This Workspace" is probably the most interesting option, because you can focus on the current workspace and choose exactly which content types you want to expose in Add It.
After clicking This Workspace you will have a secondary option:
If you leave the default option Dynamic types you will simply see all Atlas content types for the workspace just like you would usually see in the full Add It experience:
However, if you choose Pre-configured types you can get fine control over exactly which content types are available. After clicking the option you will get an additional button:
Click this and an additional panel will appear. By default all the types from Dynamic types will be listed:
At the time of writing there are 11 pre-configured types here - 3 are shown above for reference.
Reduce the list of content types
If you need a reduced set of content types, simply delete each one you don't want by clicking the X at the far right of the row:
Specify your own custom content types
If you want to start from zero and only add specific content types, the first thing you should do is delete every row in the Configure types screen. If you end up re-using one of the types and trying to configure it for a different type you are likely to experience issues. Instead, start by deleting everything until the panel has no rows left:
Now, start by choosing the Type on the left. If your type is a Page then choose "Page", otherwise choose "Other":
Next, click the Edit configuration button. If you chose "Page" then you need to choose the Page Template that you want to use, then click Apply at the bottom of the panel:
If you chose "Other", first you need to choose the List or Library you want to direct content to. If there are folders in the library, you can choose the folder next, otherwise we will assume the content is added at the root of the library. In Teams-based sites the "root" might need to be changed to "General" for the MS Teams channel. Finally, choose the content type you need to use:
Once you're happy with the above, click Apply at the bottom of the panel. Last, click Edit labels and set at least one language label for the name of the content type:
Click Add and save once your labels are set. Lastly, click Add and save again on the original panel to finalise the configuration. You can now save or publish the page with your custom Add It configuration.
