We will be deprecating some rarely used features!
Dear Clients
We are grateful for your continued commitment to Atlas as your Intelligent Knowledge Platform of choice. Many of you have been providing valuable feedback and input to our roadmap, and we have some amazing new features planned for the coming year including a raft of design updates in version 5.3 and major enhancements to our AI Assistant later this year.
As part of this commitment to continually enhance the most popular and widely used features of Atlas, we are planning to retire certain features that are rarely utilized. This change will allow us to focus on improving the features that matter the most to you, and deliver more value, innovation, and quality within the Atlas product.
Based on the low usage and feedback in our customer calls, we have determined that the following two features of Atlas will be deprecated:
- Atlas Learning & Development workspace
- Ideation workspace template
We plan to remove both features from Atlas version 6.0, due to be released mid November 2024. We understand that this change might affect some of our customers and we are here to help you.
Below you can find some frequently asked questions related to this change as well as a full guide with all the information required to support you in this process.
When is my environment going to be affected by this change?
The features will continue to be supported on pre v6.0 versions of Atlas up until February 2025 when hotfixes and support will end.
What will happen when I deploy Atlas 6.0 or higher in my Atlas deployment?
All the affected web parts will stop working. This will only affect the Atlas Learning & Development workspace and any existing Ideas workspaces created in your Atlas environment using the Atlas Ideas template in ConneX. However, if you want to double check which pages will be affected, we will provide an assessment tool as part of the Atlas 5.4 upgrade package, that will list all pages and workspaces affected in your environment, so you can assess and prepare your environment prior to the launch and upgrade to Atlas 6.0 or higher.
Is my content from any of these workspaces going to be removed automatically?
No, while we will remove the code that provides the ability to provision Idea workspaces in ConneX and remove features available in the Learning & Development centre, any existing content and workspaces will remain in your SharePoint tenant. All content will remain accessible through the standard SharePoint Document Libraries, Lists and Pages until you decide to archive or remove the affected workspaces.
